The Purpose of The Eureka Club

The Inventors Club is here to support inventors. The European Patent Office (EPO) estimate that 98% of inventions are filed by corporates for strategic and political reasons - ie they will never be made into products.

Similiarly the EPO estimate that 50% of significant inventions come from the hobby sector (hobby sector is a company employing 10 or less persons).

This is bad for inventors and it is bad for the coutries they live in. The idea behind this database is to help inventors promote their inventions around the world. Good Luck

Who Can Join

Any Inventor in any country can submit an invention for inclusion in the database. Please read the Warning at the end of this page first though and take legal advice before submitting your idea. We do not want to hear about unpatented ideas

WARNING - WARNING - WARNING

Shouting, Talking, Whispering or Writing about an invention is the same as saying You may steal my invention. If you tell your mother or your best friend then in essence you are disclosing.

The act of disclosure confers upon the third party or parties you are disclosing to, the rights to develop and exploit your idea.

If you must talk about your latest world-beating mouse trap then you should first protect your rights. To talk to a friend or a colleague in confidence, you should draft a legal document that states you are talking in confidence, and that the subjects being discussed are confidential. This is called a "non-disclosure agreement".

To talk to the world at large, you need to first stake your claim. You do this by filing a patent. If you think this is difficult and expensive then you are right, it is difficult and expensive. It is possible to write your own patent, the cost for doing this (excluding your own time) is about 30 pounds. BUT beware, a badly drafted patent is a useless patent.

If you are lost and worried by all this, never fear, come to the Great British Inventors Fair, meet inventors, patent agents, investors, and the press !

The above was written (slightly) tongue in cheek, inventing is an extremely expensive and risky business, like any financial adventure you would be well advised to seek the best advice you can afford, the legal comments above were written by a non lawyer (so don't sue me please) but were based on experience.

News

The database is now in place, we have done some simple indexing so that now there are two sections : All the descriptions are exactly as described by the inventors, so do not blame us for grammatical or spilling mistakes.

There is a data entry form that allows inventors to automatically submit info about an invention.

Happy Inventing
